Vintage Coffee Card

Hello!  It’s been awhile and I’m going to try to make this post short and sweet so I can play along in the Summer Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop.  I do love coffee!!!13130832_10209657747231052_7266796962897251339_oThe first image is the outside of the card, then the inside.

Last month my sis and I got together for our annual crafting retreat (she lives in NC, I live in MI, and we meet up in SC).  We both picked up the Elizabeth Craft/Karen Burniston Cup Pop Stand die set, the Coffee & Tea rubber stamps and the Coffee Stage-it stencil.  I’ve decided to make this card for her when she visits here in MI next month – as you can see, I positioned the steam on the inside to form a heart.  Whenever we get together, we cherish every minute and one of our favorite things is our morning coffee ritual.

I used the “Art of Life” paper pad from Kaisercraft (6 1/2″).  Included are some specialty papers and die cuts, both of which I used.   Love the textured paper and the die cuts made it easier to finish my card.  I used a scalloped die cut on the front under the ribbon, and another one on the inside to stamp my sentiment on.  I cut the saucer out of Kraft paper and the die came with an embossing feature which didn’t show up too much.  I inked it but wasn’t happy with it, then decided to use embossing paste for more texture.

I inked all of the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink, including the “steam” which was cut out with Tim Holtz Deco Sheets (love those).  After cutting the coffee beans out of brown paper, I inked them with Ground Espresso (what else??) because the paper wasn’t dark enough.  I then dipped a part of each in my jar of Vintage Photo Distress embossing powder.   I like the added texture.

I cut the spoon out of metallic Kraft-Core and inked with Staz-on Ganache, even the tip of the spoon as if it had a little bit of coffee on it.  coffee7

For the embossed edges on the inside of the card,  I used an Anna Griffin embossing folder with black Core-dinations paper, then sanded.  I actually made them for a different project, ended up not using them but they were too pretty to toss.  I think they’re perfect for this card.

That’s about it…here’s a photo of the back of the coffee cup.  Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave comments!
