Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas (#6)

Hello, have you been playing along with the Funkie Junkie’s 12 Tags of Christmas this year?  If not, you have until December 19th to participate!  You can find all of the fun details and rules here, and this is where you can find Linda’s beautiful tag for week #6.  I also have links to her blog and boutique on my side bar.  The inspiration that Linda provides is awesome, and it’s also fun to look at  all of the entries – so much talent out there!  I pretty much took inspiration from Linda’s entire tag – the colors, the setting, the glitter.  Here’s my version:

fj6-red

fj6-white

I started by using my TH Holiday Knit stencil with white embossing paste on my Kraft tag.  It turned out pretty good (not perfect), but a lot gets covered up anyway.

Next, I cut my trees out of white CS using TH Woodlands die set.  To make them sturdy, I cut out 3 of each to layer, and if you look closely, you can see I didn’t do a perfect job with that, but it still looks fine.

I cut out one more set of trees using double-sided adhesive on my white CS, removed the insides, dipped each one in Distress Clear Rock Candy glitter and then inlaid in my layered trees.  It sounds tedious, but it wasn’t that bad.  At the end when I was putting it all together, I adhered from the back, but a few inserts aren’t completely laying down and where the tree hangs over, that part isn’t adhered, of course.  There’s some space there, but you can see through the branches of a real tree, plus it looks like the snow is laying on top, so I was good with that.

When I was done with the trees, I cut out my deer and used the same procedure as for the trees.  The deer are from Mini Reindeer and 25 steel rule die.

I decided to add a star using the Dimensional Stars set (thinlits).  I didn’t want the star to be plain, so before I cut it out, I added some Frosted Film.  It adds just the right amount of shimmer.

Next was the sentiment (TH STAMPtember Holiday Stamp and Stencil Set from SSS)  which I stamped in Versamark and embossed with Ranger white embossing powder.  I don’t know the name of the die I used to cut it out, but I believe it’s one of the Spellbinders’ nesting sets.  The tag looked plain, so I got out my SSS Falling Snow stencil along with Colorbox white pigment ink, just to add some subtle snowfall.  I decided to frame it with my Memory Box Bursting Berry Vine border, glittered and cut to fit around the frame, although the bow hides the part on the left side.  My bow was made from a scrap and I added Baker’s twine.  It’s not noticeable, but I had wrapped some Baker’s twin at the top which is under the sentiment.  All of the glitter dots on the berries (and “Rudolph” nose) are Dazzles peel-off stickers.

In my last post, I mentioned that our Cairn, Brody, had come home from the hospital.  Thank you for your well wishes for him, and he’s doing much better now.  Fingers crossed it stays that way because it’s been a year of health issues for our little man.

I think that covers everything about the tag.  Thanks so much for stopping by and please feel free to leave comments 🙂
