Woohoo, I made it! The deadline is quickly approaching to enter the 12 Tags of Christmas challenge, sponsored by Linda Coughlin and the Funkie Junkie Boutique. Thank you so much, Linda, for this challenge – it’s been fun! If you haven’t entered this and want to get an idea of what to expect for (hopefully) next year, please visit Linda’s blog here and you will also find a link to her December daily deals. Good stuff!! I’ve enjoyed the inspiration that Linda has provided along the way and have loved every one of her tags. Each one is my new favorite! This is where you can find Linda’s final tag for this challenge, which I pretty much cased. Here’s mine:
Like Linda, I used Pine Needles and Mowed Lawn distress inks, spritzed/splattered with water, and used the splatter brush with Picket Fence distress ink. My “snow” is more subtle, as I haven’t used the splatter brush many times and my spray box got most of the Picket Fence – LOL. I still like it, though. I wasn’t sure if I was going to add the pocket on the front, so I decorated the bottom of the tag as well. I used the Christmas Blueprint 4 stamp set for my pine needles, and embossed with Ranger Pearl Blue embossing powder. I understand the pearl part, but not the blue part. For the text, I used Ranger black archival ink and a wooden Hero Arts Manuscript Background stamp.
I used the Sizzix TH Pediments die to cut out my pocket, then added the Gilded Christmas rub-ons. I tried adding a few of the larger snowflakes, but they just wouldn’t adhere like the small ones. I did the same technique as Linda for foiling the pocket – one of my favorite techniques. I cut out my foliage from the TH Fall Foliage thinlit set (I don’t have holiday foliage) and also Memory Box Bursting Berry Vine and cut that apart, inking with Vintage Photo. Yesterday I cut out the word “Noel” and glittered in white, but decided not to use it for yesterday’s tag…I inked that, too.
My cute snowman ephemera is from October Afternoon’s “Make it Merry” collection from a number of years ago. The ribbon is also part of that collection. Isn’t he the cutest? I tucked in a little “Merry” card and added some sequins to finish it off.
That’s a wrap on this – thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Very impressive tag. The background by itself is amazing, then how you put everything together is wonderful as well. I am afraid I am lusting after the retro snowman. I am going to search some vintage digital sites to see if they have that snowman. He’s a great addition to your tag – like the icing on a cake.

Great tags, Marty!! I have a hard time picking a favorite (though I am partial to the previous one, I must say, lol!) Sorry to be AWOL, but I think you know I have just driven cross country with my dog and cat in one car – we made it, but are all glad to be done with that! Look forward to more regular visits in the future, and meanwhile wishing you and yours a fantastic 2017! xxx Lynn
