Octopus’s Garden Birthday Card

Hello! It’s been awhile since my last post – busy, busy year. My Sis had a birthday this month and this is the card I made for her. I was inspired by the movie, “Yesterday” about the Beatles’ music. The song wasn’t performed, but was mentioned. I heard it on the radio after leaving the theater and couldn’t get it out of my head. I did have to alter the lyrics to make it fit for my card, LOL.

Unless indicated otherwise, all products are Tim Holtz.

To create my background, I blended Tumbled Glass DI, Broken China & Chipped Sapphire DOX, spritzed water and Cracked Pistachio DOX spray over the lighter colors. I also inked the edges with Vintage Photo DOX. I sprayed sea foliage stamps from the Sea Life set with water, then re-stamped in (Wendy Vecchi) Watering Can Archival ink. I decided to add texture by using the 3-D embossing folder (Elegant). The flourishes made me think of waves in this situation.

I made the octopus next, stamping in black Archival ink and coloring with Wilted Violet and Chipped Sapphire DOX. I used Gloss White Nuvo drops for the eyes and added a little shine along the edges with Prima Metallique Wax in White Gold. I had to add a bow (Crazy Things stamp set) since the Octopus in my card is a girl. The bow is colored with Abandoned Coral DI and DOX with a little bit of Fruit Punch Stickles in the middle.

For the garden, I used the Core’dinations pads I had on hand with Funky Florals 1 & 2.

I printed the sentiment and used the Labels die set to cut it out on white paper, adding some Antique Linen and Vintage Photo DOX. I finished it off with sequins, Seth Apter Baked Textures (Dirty Sand), and Prima mini art stones.

That’s it, thanks for stopping by for a look!
