TH Layered Bee with Vertigo Film

Hello!  It’s the 2nd Tuesday of the month and my turn to post on the Craft-Dee BowZ blog.  This will be my last post with them – I’ve enjoyed my six-month term and want to thank Donna for inviting me, and the lovely and talented ladies on my team for their inspiration, and thank you, Barbara, for all of your help!

Here’s my project:

I used Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo DOX to create a panel to cut my bee out of.  After drying, I added just a little bit of Ken Oliver’s Color Burst in Burnt Umber.  It looked like a hot mess but it wasn’t for a background anyway.  After cutting him out, I inked with more DOX – Spiced Marmalade, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain.  I cut another bee out using Vertigo film by Imagine Crafts (a recent find in my stash) and I believe the pattern is called Tilted.  It cuts beautifully!  I colored the bee underneath with Copic C-8 (Cool Gray No. 8), then used some alcohol blending solution to wipe away some of the color.  I ran my black Staz-on pad across the wings on top to highlight the embossed pattern.  So cool!

I adhered the paper bee on top of the Vertigo bee and gently tore off the wings – hated doing that since I liked how they looked.  I added some Pumice Stone Distress embossing powder here and there.

Not that you can see it, but my card background is from the TH Seasonal Stash paper pad.  My flowers are Memory Box’s Delightful Peony Outline and the front two have craft foam under for dimension.  “Hello Sun” are Dazzles (peel-off stickers) from Hot Off the Press.  I used my “Bees Buzzing” embossing folder by Darice and added some yellow sequins from a recent yard sale find.  My “seed packet” was a gift (with an order) from Linda at the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

The lovely green polka dot ribbon and twine are from Donna (thank you!!).  It’s a wide ribbon and it was easy using my bow tool make a double-looped bow.  You end up with a beautiful bow every time.
