Ten down, 2 to go, I might just finish this series…fingers crossed. Although it’s a little late to get started on 12 tags (if you’re slow like me, anyway), you can still check out the details and rules here, along with the December Daily Deals (I also have links to the FJ blog and boutique on my side bar). So far I’ve loved all of Linda’s tags, and tag #10 is no exception. Love the color scheme and doesn’t she just make the best snowflakes?! As usual in this challenge, I was pretty much inspired by everything. Here’s my version:
I started out with a Kraft tag and used a white pigment ink pad and my SSS Falling Snow Stencil. It wasn’t nearly enough, so next I used my TH Speckles stencil. Eh. At this point, I thought about turning my tag over and starting over, but kept going. Next I used the TH Snowflakes stencil, and it was better. I added the snowflakes from my Snowy Woods stamp set (Artistic Outpost), and more snowflakes from another stamp set (nuts, I can’t remember which one!). A few times in between sessions when the ink dried, I would use my blending tool to add more of the white ink overall. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo. In this pic of the background, I enhanced the kraft color so it’s easier to see the background I created, but the true color is as in all of the other photos.
I went ahead and colored some black cardstock with my white gelato for my chalkboard sentiment and cut it out. After I did that, though, I decided to cut out the Dashing Deer and make a chalkboard background and stamp my sentiment all over that, which I liked much better. I don’t have the original packaging for that stamp since I bought it at a scrapbook store garage sale. Like my background, I made some of the stamped impressions darker. I glittered the tops of his antlers with Clear Rock Candy distress glitter, but didn’t want solid coverage.
I made my snowflakes using the new TH thinlits and cut them out on his metallic Kraft-core in silver (each snowflake is 2 glued together), distressed the ends a bit and then added some gesso and more of the glitter, topped off with a silver sequin. Again, I didn’t want solid coverage of gesso and/or glitter. Of course, I had to add a small snowflake on one of the antlers (pics above).
I ripped apart the flap of a box until I got the shape I liked, then inked with Vintage Photo and added some gesso. I added some sheer white fabric with silver dots and adhered with my tiny attacher. Next, I added some Baker’s Twine (I’m getting a lot of mileage out of that this season!), a bow from Elizabeth Crafts Props 1 (using TH red deco sheet and adding some definition with my Black Soot distress marker)…he certainly is dashing now! Also added some black and kraft Washi tape, which was given the white gelato treatment.
I forgot until looking at this pic that I added a little bit of the glitter along the edges. I think that’s it…I really enjoyed making this tag and it’s one of my favorites from the series.
In my earlier post today, I mentioned that my little man, Brody, was under the weather and had a bad night. We had to take him to the ER and his surgery was moved up to today…until his blood work came back indicating his diabetes are too out of whack to risk surgery (this can happen with infections and certainly not because we don’t monitor him!) Thank you for your prayers and well wishes and please keep them coming so that hopefully he can still have his surgery on Tuesday and begin his recovery.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Marty, I think this might be my favorite of yours so far, but don’t hold me to that, because I love all of them! But I do love the deer die cut and how you “chalked” him and put that dapper bow tie on. He is definitely ready for a night on the town! Great details all over this tag, and it is amazing to me how well it all works together! REally another fabulous tag! Poor Brody and poor Mom; I bet you must be frazzled right now. My prayers are with you and your dear pup.
Thank you for linking this amazing tag up with our Winter Wishes Dare at Emerald Creek Dares. We love it when you play along! Hugs! Sara Emily DT

OK you got me, I love it, love it all. It’s the layers!!! Boy to they work with the deer. SO glad you kept going – many of the best projects go through an ‘ugh’ stage and then come alive as more is added. You did that perfectly. Thank you so much for joining us at A Vintage Journey xx
