Hello! It’s the second Wednesday of the month and time for a new challenge at Words2Craftby! This month’s quote:
“Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.” ─ George Washington
I love playing with the Tim Holtz Hipster stamps, and this is what I came up with:
The oval background behind the old goat was made blending DOX Faded Jeans (plus a very small amount of Vintage Photo) onto white cardstock. I have a Disney punch that has “stars” so I cut some out and spritzed them with water and placed on my (dry) DOX background. There were also some little circles on the punch and I added a few here and then and spritzed my background. I left them on the paper until the water was absorbed and they started lifting up on their own. I like how this turned out.
My old goat was colored in distress inks – Hickory Smoke, Pumice Stone and Vintage Photo, and Fossilized Amber for the straw. I believe I used Candied Apple for the tie and hat brim, and Chipped Sapphire for the hat. The hat is from the Crazy Things set, but I extended the height. I have an old stencil with stars and used Wendy Vecchi crackle embossing paste to add those.
My paper are all scraps and the clear star is from my stash. I used TH jute for my bow, and the 4th of July sentiment is from the Crazy Talk set.
I think that covers everything. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!

MARTY!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh how cool is this! Those crackled stars oh that old goat’s hat, the fantastic resist with the punch and the spot on perfect layout! A new favorite indeed. Plus the fact that you said “old goat” has me rolling because that’s something my grandmother said and I loved to hear her say it. LOL! Truly delightful and perfect display for the quote. Love love! Hope you guys had a wonderful 4th. Big hugs, Autumn

Marty, I love, love, LOVE this 4th of July card! The 4th is one of my favorite holidays, although you would never know it this year–I worked! Sorry I missed this post–I was on vacation and have been busy before and after playing catch up! This is my favorite of the hipster cards! I love the way you made your starry background and extended the hat. Such a cool card, with amazing 4th of July papers, too! Sending hugs!
